CNC MACHINING & FINISHING

Surface Finishing Services.

The final detail of your machined part. Texture, color and functional surfaces, specified together.

A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SURFACE

Same geometry.
A different visual character.

Texture, metallic color and opaque coverage describe different finish directions. Start with the appearance you need, then define the treatment.

Appearance references only.

Agree color and texture against a specification or physical sample.

01

Matte & tactile

Discuss bead blasting when specifying a textured metal appearance. Identify the visible faces and any areas to protect.

Specify: texture reference + protected areas

02

Color with metal character

For anodizing requirements, include the aluminum grade, process specification and desired appearance.

Specify: process + color reference

03

Brackets & supports

State the coating system, color, gloss and coverage boundaries required for the finished component.

Specify: coating + gloss + coverage

Silver textured mounting block and a black sleeve with a metallic inner bore

DETAILS THAT STAY WITH THE PART

Finish the outside.
Keep the fit in focus.

A finished component still has to assemble, locate and connect. Identify the surfaces that do each job.

01

Visible surfaces

Define the cosmetic faces, color, texture and appearance reference.

02

Mating & sealing surfaces

State the dimensions required on the final part and mark any bores, threads or faces to protect.

03

Contact & grounding areas

Show the connection zones and the required surface condition separately.

FROM “LOOKS RIGHT” TO AN AGREED REFERENCE

Define what acceptance looks like.

A color name alone leaves too much open. Keep the appearance reference and inspection conditions with the part revision.

FINISH APPROVAL BRIEF

Include these details with your drawing.

01

Reference

Physical sample identification or specified color, texture and gloss.

02

Visible faces

Mark cosmetic zones, permitted contact locations and masked areas.

03

Acceptance conditions

State the appearance criteria, viewing requirements and any sample approval needed.

04

Protection

Identify packing, separation and handling requirements for finished faces.

A screen is a starting point.

Agree the final finish against the selected reference. Include any testing or documentation in the quotation scope.

MILLING QUESTIONS

A few details
before you send.

Files, feature limits and finishing requirements for a custom milled part.

Send a STEP or STP model and a dimensioned PDF where available. Include the part revision, material, order quantity, surface requirements and any dimensions that control assembly or function. If only one file format is available, send it with a short description of the part.

Include these features in the complete model and identify any dimensions that cannot change. Tool access, wall support, material and workholding need to be assessed together. Feasibility and any suggested changes are confirmed after drawing review.

Tolerance and size suitability depend on the part geometry, material and machining setup. Provide overall dimensions and mark the critical fits and datums. The quotation confirms the requirements that can be accepted for your specific component.

List the required finish, cosmetic faces, masking, inspection points and documents in the enquiry. These are reviewed as part of the finished-part scope, with availability and delivery requirements confirmed in the quotation.

YOUR NEXT MILLED PART

Send the drawing.
Let’s define the scope.

Share the model and the requirements that matter. Include what is ready now and add the remaining details during review.

01

Drawing & revision

STEP / STP model and a dimensioned PDF.

02

Material, finish & quantity

Include critical fits and your required date.

03

Quotation & next steps

Feasibility, price, lead time and inspection scope confirmed after review.
